In the midst of it

Those of you against CIO. . . stop reading here!

Right now, J* is upstairs in his room SCREAMING. Tonight is the night we start "Big Boy sleep". I just can't go on as before.

I'm going to have a second glass of wine and go back in for him in 5 minutes, then 1o minutes. This hurts me.

I'll keep you posted.

Update: Been back three times, and he is quiet at the moment. Fingers crossed!

Second update: Hubby went in the fourth time and almost ruined everything! He is such a wuss! I stayed for 10 minutes while J* settled down. I then kissed him again and said I'd be back. That was 20 minutes ago, and all is quiet. I am heading to bed. Wish us luck!

Next day update: He fell asleep after that and slept the night! Day two coming up tonight. I may switch to vodka!

Hope that was the last time you had to go in. I know it is so hard to CIO but these boys at this age want to be in control. Hopefully if you stay tough for a week it will work. Stick to it! It will be better for all of you! Is he still napping?

HUGS SUZ It is what you have to do. We've done the same thing with Cal. Its getting better, he has no problems going down for a nap, I can put him in and he goes to sleep. DH puts him to bed at night and Daddy has to rub Cal back before he can leave.
Boy does he know how to get his daddy to stay. :)

It's no fun, but will be worth it. CIO at almost age 4 is easier to deal with because you know they are fine just mad at you.

I think the term 'CIO' only applies to babies under the age of 1... maybe 2. (And I'm totally against that.)

But for a kid 3 or older? It's a battle of the wills and we need to use every tactic available!
